A quiet retreat for hair and thoughts
a quiet retreat for hair and thoughts
LOCATION
Perched on a quiet hill in Okinawa, ras. overlooks the ocean from a house that still carries traces of the American administration era. Surrounded by a garden, the space is shaped with a minimalist sensibility—wood as the main element, with subtle stainless-steel accents that add a calm, crisp edge to the atmosphere.
SPACE
ras. was created not simply as a place for hair, but a creative retreat—a gentle pause from the pace of city life. Each visit is intended as a moment where breathing softens, where aesthetics, meaningful encounters, and small sparks of inspiration naturally weave into the everyday
experience of hair.
HEART
At the heart of what we do is Japanese omotenashi:
sincere, understated hospitality. Our approach is intentionally non-commercial —not to sell, but to care for the person in front of us with quiet attention and respect. Every detail is thoughtfully considered to gently awaken the five senses —from seasonal touches in our tea and light refreshments, to calming fragrances that settle the mind, and carefully curated music that flows softly through every corner of the space.
FOUNDER
With 10 years of experience in Tokyo and another 10 years overseas, the owner stylist — Sone Ryuichi has developed his craft across environments shaped by distinctly different sensibilities, various Asian Hair, Western Hair with care.
Sone's work is defined by a focus on delicate, nuanced hair colour and by subtle adjustments that preserve the natural texture and integrity of the hair. Rather than pursuing bold statements, he values a quiet elegance—one that settles naturally into everyday life and reveals its presence over time.
